Best of Slovakia tour

Day 1: Pick up from airport. Introduction. Accommodation.

Day 2: Morning trip to a stunning Prosiecka Valley where you’ll see the mountain range. Choč Mountains with a water stream carving its way through deep gorges running from North to South. We’ll stop at Kvacianska Valley to visit mills from the 19th century that are still being used today. It's a few hours easy paced trek, it includes approximately an hour long break at the mills before continuing to a waterfall. After this tour you will have lunch at a the famous, traditional style restaurant where you’ll have an opportunity to sample local Liptov specialities.

Day 3: We will visit Europe’s biggest medieval castle - Spis Castle that dates back to 1113 and Žehra Holy Spirit church. The vaulting in the church was built in 1433. The Baroque onion-shaped dome of the church tower was finished in 1769. Unique medieval wall paintings that were created gradually, from the second half of the 13th century until the end of the 15th century and are still preserved in the church interior. We’ll have lunch at yet another charming restaurant built in a Slovak folk style that offers amazing views of the castle.We’ll continue to ancient town Levoca. It was the main center of the Spis region and was a free royal town since 1323. The most dominant building is the Gothic Church of St. Jacob where we’ll visit the highest gothic altar in the world. Its reaches 18.62 meters and it fills the space of the sanctuary from floor to arch. It was created in the workshop of Master Pavol from Levoča as his chef d'oeuvres around 1508-1510 and it was finished in 1517.all three above are an absolute must Unesco sights.
Today we’ll spend night in the east of Slovakia.

Day 4: Kosice is the capital of East Slovakia. This city, the second largest after the capital Bratislava, it has a long and rich history. In the town center is the magnificent Gothic cathedral, the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth, as well as the Chapel of St. Michael, the Urban Tower and the Neo-Baroque State Theatre but that’s not all, be prepared to be amazed by other monuments and buildings of great cultural and historical interest such as the old Town Hall, the old University, the Captain's Palace, Liberation Square as well as galleries and museums.We’ll continue to Ochtinska aragonit cave. Gothic church, the Betliar Castle and Krasna Horka are all located in the surrounding area. The most important European ice cave outside the Alps that is accessible to public Ochtinská aragonitová jaskyňa situated in the mountains Revúcka vrchovina in central Slovakia is a world rarity and unique natural phenomenon. It is interesting for it's variety and abundance of aragonite filling and a rare development of underground space. Due to its significance and unique ornamentation it is included into the UNESCO List of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. We’ll spend a night in Nemecka, basic but charming B&B accommodation will be made up for the location, you can watch stars over an open fire grill.

Day 5: We’ll make a short stop at the memorial of the Slovak National Uprising at Nemecka village before continuing to Banska Bystrica, the sixth biggest amongst the towns of Slovakia in size. It is the cultural and economic centre of central Slovakia. Here you can admire open air museums or you can climb 101 stairs to the top of the clock tower for the unforgettable view. We’ll travel though Donovaly and make a stop in Ruzomberok and Likava Castle before returning to Liptovsky Trnovec.

Day 6: we’ll take a 30 minute  boat ride on the water reserve Liptovska Mara. We’ll stop and visit white church bell tower which was saved from one off the villages when water reserve Liptovska Mara was built between 1970-1975. We will continue to walk to Havránok one of the most important and the first open air archaeological sites in Slovakia. It demonstrates the presence of Kelts in region Liptov in time between the 4th and 1st century BC. BBQ afternoon.

Day 8: Early morning start to the magnificent Lomnický štít peak by chair lift is among the most attractive adventures for tourists in the High Tatras and, indeed, it enjoys the great popularity. It carries tourists to a height of 2,634 m above sea level in only a few minutes to the highest located telephone booth and meteorological station and the best panoramic views. Visit to wonderful Liptovská Village Museum, Pribylina. We’ll stop for a photo opportunities at Bela riwer and Demanovska Valley and visit Demanovska Ice cave.
Day 9: We’ll take a chair lift to Kosodrevina from Srdiecko and take a easy paced walk to the stunning Stefanikova Chata where you’ll be amazed by the panoramic views of Low Tatras. We’ll stop for a lunch here and then we’ll continue to the top of Chopok or Dumbier.
